Elbert Laroc is a Haitian-Canadian award winning artist, he was born and grow up in the southern of Haiti, he immigrated to Canada since 2008, he is currently based in Ottawa.
Elbert is an artist who works primarily with oil paint. His work focuses on identity, culture, movement, emotion, and nature. He is profoundly inspired by personal stories, his community, color, music, and childhood memories.
Through his use of layering, contrast, and blending, he aims to evoke emotion, challenge perception, tell a story, and create a connection. Ultimately, his art is about the exploration of personal narrative, memory, and the emotional landscapes that sit beneath everyday life. Through his art, he aims to create spaces where people can recognize parts of themselves and experience a moment of reflection, comfort, or curiosity.
